I have a Dell Precision 450 with 2x xeon 2.4GHz. A fast machine!
I have RH9 and use vmware 4.0 with win2k in it.
As soon as vmware makes a lot of disk access all the machine becomes
VERY slow mI 've recently noticed a problem that I didn 't notice in the beta with
Metaciy. It 's a problem of mouse clicks being ignored on window borders.
I 've noticed this with resizing and moving. It doesn 't haI am thinking of adding a cheap scanner ( <$100) to my
system. Any recommendations? Any particular brands
work well in Linux? Any particular brands to stay
away from? Any resources I should check i
Does anyone have a freetds rpm build for RH9 ?

As reported on News groups there seem to exist a problem affecting
mounting Windows shares with smb-client.
It looks there 's no time out here.
Example. When I put mount -t smbfs commands in /etc/rc.dBelow are networking related problems i encountered after upgrading my
laptop from 8.0 to 9
* pcmcia was configured wrongly by the installer i fixed that by
editing /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia.

NowHas anyone built Tomcat from source on shrike? How did you do it? I have
been working on doing this for about a month and have failed miserably
each time.
Thanks in advance for any ideas comments oWhere can I get the source for httpd that comes with redhat 8.0? Its
not in httpd.blah.src.rpm

USB port and the system recognizes it. I then can right click on the
desktop and I see the flash option under mounThanks for the quick reply. You were correct on both accounts.

I 'm not sure if /dev/shm is the same as a swap partition or if I missed
a steOn the gnome panel there is a worklist line on the left side of the
panel that is just to the right of the icons. On the right side there
is another line with the clock RHN applet etc to the rCan anyone suggest a useful set of PHP options to enable when compiling
PHP 4.3.1 from source to work as an Apache v2 module? That is to say

Sorry to scream at all of you but my I was working on my Dell Inspiron
8200 on battery power and was just powering off when the battery cut
out completely. Now when I try to start up mI am trying to get my LAN up but no joy.

I 'm trying to perform a network install with sis900 network card. It 's
in the driver list but modprobe says it can 't find sis900 module.
Drivers disk lists it in the modinfo and pcitable files. AWell maybe i 'm blind but i can 't seem to find a way to tell Mozilla
(the one provided by default with RH 9) to open Evolution when clicking

I have beens spending quite a bit of time trying to get a logitech
quickcam working under the new shrike distro. So far all of my efforts
to get the source to compile have failed. What I amSubject line says it all. I 've lost my keyboard repeat when I hold down
a key in a gnome-terminal session or any other application.
On the same computer in a VMWare virtual Windows machine the keI have upgraded RH 8 to 9 but it won 't start in a graphicalk mode any more. After the log in command line the display server tries to start the graphical interface and then -after 5 tries- it gives uI just downloaded the source tarball for freetype 2.1.3 and rebuilt it.
This is the same version as the RPM binary package that comes from Red
Hat. I 'm puzzled at Red Hat 's packaging. As built from I have followed the various posts recently re
troubles with k3b...

behold there is a RH9 rpm all ready to go. I haven 't

Why Redhat Linux do NOT support devfsd ? We are developing a diskless
environment by using devfsd it will reduce the load of the server.
