You can redirect the messages to /dev/null so that it wont
appear to user. You can do it by killall -9 process >& /dev/null.
Also try using signal function call for doing these operatioHi

Looks like the latest kernel from Redhat for RHEL AS 3 was
kernel-2.4.21-51.EL.i686 so the answer is no.
Surely enough you could build a 2.4.24 kernel.
