When I log into Linux server through SSH by the use of my personal account then then use "su root " and passwd why I can 't create a new user account ?
I got error message If I create a user account by using "useradd " and "passwd " under root in
Linux how could I limit the user to access other files and avoid disasters
if they access our server through SSH ?

My gateway is a Wireless gateway that I have a fixed connection to. It
behaves as my DHCP server and dns too.
On boot having DHCP means it is automatically writing the resolv.cDoing DNS resolution can also happen via TCP not just UDP.
If memory serves TCP is used when the results are larger as when going after a google.com or some other site with a dozen IP 's for a singlI am trying to get this box working using my isp dns.
I verified the dns setup using the host/dig and nslookup commands.
I can ping the ip address corresponding to it and ftp etc. to the internet
usRecently a server was hacked and a rootkit was installed. I 've since
backed up all the data .conf files and special apps. Since the server
has to be back online asap I 'm curious if it 's possible toI have a tarred file that has several directories before the filename
ex mnt/hdd/etc/filename.tar.gz
What I need to do is untar the file to
/etc/filename
