I connected my old parport zip drive to my RedHat 8.0. I loaded ppa
modules and was able to mount it with root and /dev/sda4. Also tried
the same thing with the Iomega Tools. No Problem.
BIn general Mike you need to loosen up on your approach to communication
on the internet. Tight restrictions generally do much more harm then good
and almost always accomplish nothing at all. Email Go to www.google.com and type "linux modem the-brand-name the model
number " and see what comes up. (You may try it without the model number
if you don 't get anything.)
There are several sites that liI don 't know about your particular modem but if you can find the literature
that came with your modem and if you see something to the effect of it being
a "software modem " then it is a "winmodem ".

Is anybody out there using a Compaq 20/40 DLT drive for backups? Does
anybody know what the best block size is for tar or cpio? My drive keeps
"shoe shining " and backups take forever.

I knew how to do this in other distributions (SuSE Mandrake) I would

working?
