I can start RHEL 3 or 4 in rescue mode from the first installation CD
by typing 'linux rescue ' at the boot prompt.

I have an host running Knoppix 3.8.1 from CD I started the Knoppix
Terminal Server on it.
I have another host I booted it off the Terminal Server using PXE.

I cannot reinstall the OS and applications on the new server and then
migrate the data from the old server since that would rI have been screaming at Dell Tech Support over the last couple of weeks

I 've got several RHEL 3 machines that share a filesystem located in a
