  I made the partitions with fdisk. All partitions on both hard drives
are made with fdisk. It happens that this one is a problem at /dev/sda5
and for some reason when I try to load hardy onto /dev/sda6 it fails to
complete, not making a grub. I have 2 copies of hardy LiveCD that do that.

  Here are both hard drives according to fdisk:
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00056ea5

 Device Boot    Start      End    Blocks  Id System
/dev/sda1          1      974   7823623+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda2         975     1948   7823655  83 Linux
/dev/sda3        1949     2192   1959930  82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda4        2193     5599   27366727+  5 Extended
/dev/sda5        2193     4625   19543041  83 Linux
/dev/sda6        4626     5599   7823623+ 83 Linux

and

Disk /dev/hda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0009c343

 Device Boot    Start      End    Blocks  Id System
/dev/hda1          1     1219   9791586  82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda2  *     1220     1360   1132582+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda3        1361     1970   4899825  83 Linux
/dev/hda4        1971     12556   85032045   5 Extended
/dev/hda5        1971     7071   40973751  83 Linux
/dev/hda6        7072     7085    112423+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda7        7086     8961   15068938+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda8        8962     10123   9333733+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda9       10124     12556   19543041  83 Linux

  I see changes in the Extended of both hard drives. When I made them
they went clear out to 19457 cylinders, but now fdisk makes them appear
wrong. Or they changed. What is going on here?
