OK...
It's running. :) Nicely actually.
I installed it... WiFi worked out of the box. I ran the full updates.
Then installed Medibuntu... then VLC to play Divx files.
What works...
WiFi works.
Ethernet works.
Audio works (including in Skype).
Compiz works (but when you move a window with a VLC video playing,
video rectangle doesn't wobble and follows after you let go of the
window).
Function keys for SLEEP, LCD BRIGHT
What doesn't work...
Webcam isn't seen... have to look into that one. I might just decide
that I really want webcam and go back to Xandros... will see... Pluging
in a generic USB-VC Logitech webcam works.
Function keys for volume don't work.
Audio doesn't survive a sleep / wake of the device
Shutdown needed a small patch.
All in all, it's the Ubuntu experience with GNOME desktop. Very slick.
Fast enough.
I wish it was complete in terms of support... in particular webcam!

Hi!
I keep hearing... but can't find the actual bits... that there is (or
soon to be) a distro of Ubuntu specially built for the EeePC... (as
opposed to "install normal Ubuntu, then run a bunch of scripts ... and
re-run them at every kernel update"...
Can anybody point me in the direction?
Thanks in advance,
Gilles
