test. It is not uncommon for dsl filters to go bad. When they do, they
weaken the signal & the ISP's equipment will train down to lower speeds.
I had some grounding problems on my telco line last month & ended up
adding a grounding rod. Prior to that I was burning out dsl filters at
the rate of about 1 per month so I'd keep several new filters in the
parts bin.
That I've already tried as well. Also made the phone cables as shoe\rt as possible as per my isp's suggestions. They suggested no longer than 3 meters. I have now all up no more than 6 inches, i.e. 2 * leads that come with filters. I've changed filters, modems, leads, unplugged the phone, without the filter, with the filter............. you get the pic. Spoke with my isp's tech support, researched online (various forums and google), emailed the manufacturers support for the modems. I've checked the settings for the modems (netscape dm111p, netcomm1300b, and d-link dsl-g604t (generation ii). I have a reasonable understanding of the modems and their settings. I understand port forwarding for the various programs
