Hi Y'all,

Well feeling inquisitive and wanting to learn a little bit more...

I have purchased a 4GB Flash Drive (SanDisk cruzer micro). It plugged right in and I have been able to do a little investigating...

It is formated as VFAT and contains a few directories and files (MS stuff). All this information shows up in the File manager task window.

I have been able to unmount it and remount it on a directory I created. I have been able to create a directory and delete that directory, as well. I was able to examine it with fdisk. All this was done via SUDO.

Now for what I want to do, I said i was feeling inquisitive...

1. How can I prevent the File Manager doing anything with it when it is plugged in?
2. Will it always be the same device on the system I am using it with? I understand that all bets are off if I change systems.
3. Can I reformat the drive with fdisk and change the file type to EXT3? I would like to use it to backup my home directory as well as some other key files.
4. Will I also be able to remove the locked MP3.exe file? Don't want it & don't need it either!

Warnings and caveats requested as well...

Cheers,
Jay
