I'd started an earlier thread on this topic but can't seem to find it.

I have a Radeon Mobility 9200 ati card.  I have two problems when I try to use an external monitor

1) it does not always detect the monitor unless I reboot.  I try system- preferences -screen resolution, detect monitor.  That works sometimes.

2) once detected, a dvd will not show on an external monitor unless I use grandr and click the internal monitor 'off.'   Then it works.  But when I reverse, I do get the display back on the internal monitor but no mouse function until I reboot.


Any suggestions?
