I've got one of the old ones of those cables, they're really good.
Unfortunately, I
don't own a non-WD drive (proper fanboy me), so I can't tell you how
they would fit a Hitachi. It sure is secure though. It has little plastic
nubbins on the end, to hold it even more securely.

I'm sure it only cost me about £3 though... I thought you guys got
stuff cheaper!

Try rubbing the fingers on the connector with isopropyl alcohol
(propan-2-ol) or methylated spirit to see if that helps.
