I would recommend using ext2 rather than ext3 on a flash drive. Unless there
have been major changes over the last couple of years, flash drives and
journaling filesystems don't mix very well. Of course I stand to be corrected,
but it seems that a journal causes a lot of unnecessary writes which can cause
undue wear on a flash drive.
