The following error message occurs whenever the install Updates button
is clicked.:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to
correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Because of this bug I can not install any software or updates. I've been
using Linux for 4 days now. New to this OS

Please help.
