I'm running VMware Server 1.0.4 on a pair of Xeon 5140s on x86_64 RH5.1.

If you want a 64-bit guest, you need a 64-bit host (for appropriate
values of 64-bit). I doubt that VMware Server is officially supported
by Redhat. If you paid VMware money, they'd probably consider
supporting VMware Server, but you may as well buy ESX.
