It sounds like you have a tough decision to make. Some of the options:
1) Run 32-bit RHEL 5
2) Install a 32-bit toolset on your 64-bit RHEL 5 (i.e. Perl, etc).
Note, I'm not saying install perl.i386 :) You would be wise to have a
32-bit toolchain in NFS-mounted space for all your machines to share and
enforce your developers to use those tools and not the local ones.
