I haven't explicitly seen it mentioned in any manuals, but I haven't really
looked either. I do recall seeing kernel patches in the past for specific
systems to make sure that the on-board port labeled 'Ethernet 1' always came
up as eth0, 'Ethernet 2' always as eth1, or something along those lines...
