 Try the following change

   root (hd0,0)
   kernel /xen.gz-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5 com1=9600,8n1
   module /vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5xen ro root=/dev/md2
console=ttyS0,9600n8
   module /initrd-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5xen.img
