I don't think there is a way to do this using the standard RHEL5 ifcfg
configuration. You can set the current active slave via the sysfs
interface with: echo "ethX" > /sys/class/net/bondX/bonding/active_slave .
I have not used this a lot, but it seems reasonably sane. If you try to
set an interface that does not have a link, it will error.
