On Behalf Of Geoffrey
Looks like it's Hitachi:
scsi 2:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA Hitachi HTS72202 DC4A PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
Looking at lsmod under Fedora 8, I see the following:
ata_generic 8773 0
pata_acpi 8641 0
ata_piix 17860 2
libata 128561 3 ata_generic,pata_acpi,ata_piix
scsi_mod 123341 4 sg,sr_mod,libata,sd_mod

What happens if you ignore the 119922.. etc and act as if it was working
properly? The term setting echo needs to be -echo it appears and you can
manage that later through .profile scripts. I don't know how to issue the
equivalent of "stty -echo" from the boot: prompt. It is very likely that
the double characters are a presentation issue only, and not *actually*
there.
