Let's be on the safe side.

I use both kde3 and kde 4 kmail with imap. And i can say, is not safe yet use
kmail 4 in productions. period.
I experienced some mail looses, but i was prepared for this since i'm dealing
with development version

Local mail have their databases will with different indexes version too, so we
can't tell now using a non stable version will be ok
