Then do this in a branch & uplad in main/testing. Or commit only after
you've benchmarked a signifiant performance boost.

I've never ever see a bench showing a signifiant performance boost
using MMX (even with windows).

You're doing the wrong way:

1) first test
2) then commit if/after reporting a signifiant performance boost.
