As this is cooker, in order to help debug you are expected to be able to
use things at a fairly low level. Not using the lastest kernel and
reporting a potential bug that has a high possibility of being kernel
related is not particularly helpful. Not having a mouse or a graphical
display is not blocker to copying files to a USB stick.
You can do this via a terminal at runlevel 1. No mouse, no graphical
display, just a keyboard. Replicate the problem on your current setup in
this way and then try and replicate it with the latest kernel, and the
2008.1 kernel and let us know your results.
You may have to manually mount devices to do this but this is not hard.
When you list the modules, you shoudl include the filesystem modules
(e.g. vfat, ext3 etc.) and the physical drivers used for your usb system
(e.g. ehci_hcd, uhci_hcd etc.)
