I'm preparing a fix for the default device remembering across sessions.
I helped a user on #pulseaudio IRC channel who had this problem. He went
for a hardcoded default.pa as a solution but provided you can set the
default device this isn't a huge problem

The question of whether the bug is in harddrake or udev (for loading the
module), hal for mis-reporting the order of the devices (if the pcspkr
is not hw0 - the guy I helped had it as hw1 but it still came up as the
first device in pulse), or pulse is somethign that will take longer to
work out.
