Do you have any message logs about it?
I just reproduced an upgrade from 2008.1, with xplanet installed, and
did not have
any problems. But I think there may exist a problem if upgrading a
package that thinks
it is the package owner of /usr/X11R6(/dir)? or if /usr/X11R6 is removed
before the
x11-server-common %pretrans script is run.
