Contrary to what I said in it, the Mandriva kernel suffers from the same issue.

As it stands now:

It might be possible to add a software fix to work around this, but I'm
not inclined to do it if yours is the only computer suffering from the
problem and you don't use USB on it anyway.

So this is just to inform you that possibly Mandriva 2009 won't boot on at least
some of the systems it did boot before. If someone can verify similar hardware
and request fix - would be nice.
