I ran a test with hybernation on my Acer Aspire 3681 WXMi laptop (1 Gb
RAM). It was almost flawless. The machine didn't go to GRUB (dual booting
Ubuntu) but started to load the image. It took somewhere between 1 and 2
minutes to bring back the GNOME desktop.
A few issues:
- no login was required when coming back from hybernation. I would surmise
that this is a security risk, especially for laptop owners;
- wifi didn't come up again, but reconnecting manually solved the problem.
Looks like a succesful test to me, especially since similar tests with
Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 and OpenSUSE 11.0 failed on the same box.
Kindest regards,
