Just tested on this system.

Monitor is a 22" KDS connected via kvm switch.
Resolution 1600X1200 depth 24

Does Not Work.

Gives error that it can not find the monitor.
Error no usable screen found.
Can not connect to server.

The ati, and of course the fglrx, drivers work without issue using the
same settings.
