What's with people making the biggest deal out of this? The ubuntu
mailing lists just had a huge discussion about it.

I have seen the signature (something like this)

A: Because it puts the answers before the questions.
Q: Why is top-posting bad?

But I think it goes more like this:

Q: Why is top-posting bad?
A: You said, "Why is top-posting bad?"
 Top posting is bad because ...
