Stephen,

Please note in my case it does not affect all users. I completely removed
samba from the system and still have the same issues. If I create a new
user, the new user has the same issues. In my case I am using NIS for
authentication and NIS based auto mounter maps. There is no /misc and most
system don't have have /net either. That does bring up something in my mind
though, there are other Administrators that may have updated the auto mouter
maps. I will check is out next week, after the holidays.

Thanks,
Jamie

This problem only affects new users and some
> current user,

 They want me to reinstall
> from scratch using only RHEL rpms.
Makes since as a test but I don't want
>
> I have done an strace on nautilus but there is soo much
information there I
> can't make head or tails of it.
>
>
Once I reistall from scratch I will let this group know what fixed it.
