Back Stephen,
Please note in my case it does not affect all users. I completely removed samba from the system and still have the same issues. If I create a new user, the new user has the same issues. In my case I am using NIS for authentication and NIS based auto mounter maps. There is no /misc and most system don't have have /net either. That does bring up something in my mind though, there are other Administrators that may have updated the auto mouter maps. I will check is out next week, after the holidays.
Thanks, Jamie
