Back I ran into a little problem today and wanted to warn everyone else. Upgrading the "quota" package will overwrite /etc/quotagrpadmins and /etc/quotatab. /etc/warnquota.conf is unaffected.
I ran up2date today and updated a long list of packages. This afternoon I receive an email from warnquota:
warnquota: Administrator for a group PUBL not found. Cancelling mail.
upon checking the /etc/quotagrpadmins file, I see it is empty except for: users: root mygroup: chief and has a date stamp of Oct. 13th, 2005, as does /etc/quotatab (which has incorrect information as well).
I downgraded from quota-3 (See http://ota-3.ora-code.com).10-8 (new today) to quota-3 (See http://ota-3.ora-code.com).10-7 (which I assume I was running previously) and copied my "real" /etc/quotagrpadmins file back in place. I then ran up2date again, and confirmed that upgrading to quota-3 (See http://ota-3.ora-code.com).10-8 overwrote /etc/quotagrpadmins and /etc/quotatab, and DID NOT save any copies as rpmsave. I can confirm it was working properly before the upgrade.
