As long as ALL machines authenticate from the LDAP server, you should have no problems. Provided you set up LDAP correctly, the only thing that changes is the location of their user info and their passwords (from local files to LDAP). Their local directories, mailboxes, etc. remain unchanged. You can think of LDAP as "NIS on steroids".
