With the latest updates on RedHat EL 2.6.9-55.0.2,  I have been
having problems adding network printers to the system.

printtool, setup and the web interface do not seem to be working well
with each other.

printtool  a member of system-config-printer-gui-0 (See http://gui-0.ora-code.com).6.116.10-1
cups is version 1.1.22-0.rc1.9.20.2
setup is 2.5.37-1.3

printtool no longer modifies /etc/printcap.  When I add printers in
printtool, apply, exit, restart cups and then "export
PRINTER=newprinter", "lpq" gives me an error of
lp:  error  --  PRINTER environmental variable names non-existent
destination.

If I enter a printer via setup using the ip address of the printer
and port 9100, lpr and the web interface cannot find the printer.
lpq shows the printer as not ready.  I have to go into the web
interface, modify the printer's location with its full network name.

What interface should I be using to add printers?  I was previously
using printtool exclusively.
