fstab/modules.conf and floppy drive 2003-12-11 - By Philippe
Back Hi,
First, thanks to all those who gave me information about the way to use a floppy drive with a MB Asus P4T-F. After recompiling the kernel, I loaded it as a module, and it is usable after insmod and mount it manually.
I am looking now to finish the job.
/etc/fstab keeps being cleaned (the /dev/fd0 line), as the floppy is not loaded as a module at boot.
I added a line in /etc/modules.conf with no success :
in fstab : /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0
in modules.conf: alias char-major-2 floppy0
Is it correct ?
It should be possible, even with floppy loaded as a module, to have a correct fstab/mtab and a modules.conf who does the its job , no ?
I would just like to see this floppy icon on the desktop and the mouse menu to mount/umount the floppy.
Any help appreciated ... Thanks
Philippe
