Along these lines, I 'm trying to get the rcp command to work so that I can copy some 5 GB of data from one RH 7.2 machine to a 7.3 machine. (This is a one-time deal, and then I will remove the r packages from both systems).
I 've connected them with a cross over cable, and set up rlogin on both, using the same user (bfd) on each.
This much works: when I issue "rlogin -l bfd machine-name " I am immediately logged on to that machine and can wander around the various directories. But when I try to copy a file using rcp ( "rcp testt2 machine1:/home/bfd ", while on machine 2) I get a "connection refused " error from machine 1.
I 've taken down my firewalls so that the ipchains rules are all set to accept. I 'm logged on to both machines as bfd.
What is going on, and how do I correct it?
