  | | | Problem with smp kernel | Problem with smp kernel 2002-08-20 - By Jari Laaksonen
Back My pc configuration is... Asus CUV4X-D Motherboard VIA 694XDP-North and 686B-South chipsets 2 x Intel Pentium III (Coppermine) 1000MHz 768 MB Memory Adaptec AIC7XXX SCSI-Card HP Tape Drive C1537A 2 x IBM Disk (IDE/Ultra DMA/100) 3Com PCI 3c905C Linux version 2.4.18-5 (bhcompile@(protected)) (gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-110))
I will trying to create kernel that supported smp (multiprosessor) but no lucky at all. Every time when I trying boot machine with the smp kernel, machine hang, without any errors.
I 'll trying kernel 2.4.18-3, 2.4.18-5 and same thing, machine hang when trying boot for the smp.
If I use only one processor (whitout smp kernel support), both kernel version works just fine.
What do next ? Anybody has the same configuration ? All help are welcome.
Thanks
- Jopi
