Reply to my own post huh?

I found the reason for the template error I got when installing the kernel It
was caused by new-kernel-pkg which calls grubby to update the grub.conf. If
grub.conf is not written exactly the way anaconda writes it grubby bails.
What sux is that there is not one example of the "correct " grub.conf file
anywhere in the docs, man pages or info. So even though you can write your
own grub.conf from scratch and be able to boot your system fine you will
probably get a fatal error when you try to install a new kernel rpm.

I still need kernel-2.4.7-2.19smp - i686. The link to where I got it no
longer works.
