Back Each machine has a 192.168.1.x address.
How do I update the bind database file. Do I have to add each workstation manually in the .zone file?
I hope not... for 150 workstations... that 's a lot of work.
********************* You can set up a BIND server on a Linux box, then use a fake domain. I have the domain 'loki.me ' as my lan, and a BIND server that is set as the master server for 'loki.me '. I then assign a hostname and IP address to each machine, and update it in the bind database file. Add "search loki.me " to your /etc/resolv.conf files, and you can ping/telnet/ssh/ftp/whatever your boxen by name all you want.
