I wanted a system image I could fit on a single CDROM so I could
quickly restore my development system when it gets scrambled by unstable
code. After a bit of fiddling I had an install size of 590 MBytes; No X,
but all the devel libs I needed and some additional useful stuff.
When I wanted to add XFree to the mix I anticipated a nest of
dependencies, and I wasn 't disapointed. However, some of them were quiite
surprising. It gets very difficult to install X without running into a
circle of dependencies which tries to pull in the kde/gnome bloat. My
choice of window manager is fvwm2. Would some RedHat developer please
explain why RedHat 's fvwm rpm has dependencies on gnome libs?
