Disk related crash?

Dear all,

I have installed a new version of valhalla (first ISO disk set), without
applying any patches, mainly on a "new " drive. I have two old
ext2 disks with a set of partitions that was converted to ext3 (hdb
and hdd) (see A). Disk space usage is shown in A1 and A2).

I 've experienced a couple of system crashes.
Yesterday (installed OS on Wednesday) I had a crash after forced:
[slocate -u -e /mnt] and last night I had yet another crash after crond
work (see B). However, crond did not trigger crash after Wednesday but
something else did (see C). My crond.daily/ is listed in D) and
crond.daily/slocate.cron is listed in E). Moreover, smb is repeatingly
protesting:

smb_request: result -104, setting invalid
smb_retry: successful, new pid=xxxx, generation=y

,but [testparm] passes nicely.

Is there anyone that can help me figure out what is causing my system
to crash regularly? I apologize for the amount of text in this email and
for the poor readability.

Sincerely,

Leif Ericsson
