XFS dies

XFS dies

I am having problems with XFS.During bootup, it lists as starting
successfully, and there are no error messages in /var/log/messages.

But it does not show up when using the ps command.

I have tried starting it manually, using

service xfs restart

or by

/etc/init.d/xfs restart

or by

/usr/X11R6/bin/xfs -droppriv -nodaemon

In each case (except the last, of course), I get a message saying that
stopping it has failed, and starting it has succeeded. The file
/var/log/messages shows that it has started and is listening on port 7100.

However, ps or top shows that it is not running, and running netstat
shows that it is not listening on any port.

I 've even tried reinstalling it, without avail.

Until I can get it to work, I can 't get XWindows to run, and that leaves
me with a useless computer <g >.

Any suggestions?
