I added a new hd and created the fs and updated the fstab and finally mounted the fs. I also created a mount point for the drive.
The fstab line is

/dev/sdb1 /apps ext2 defaults 1 1

I created the directory as the mount point, mkdir /apps
I did a mount -a successfully.

When I do an ls -al I don 't see all the new space from the hmount point /apps (sdb1)

When I do a df -k it shows up fine.

I am trying to mount the new fs (/dev/sdb1) to the new directory /apps.
