USB Support for wireless keyboard and mouse

I 've been searching the Internet in general and lurking here hoping to stumble across the answer to my problem.

System: Running RH 7.3, 2.4.18-10 kernel, used the up2date yesterday. 1ghz AMD Athlon on Asus A7V 133 mobo, 512 meg RAM, IBM 60 gig HD, ATI AIW Raedeon. Primary O/S currently Win ME.

Problem: I 'm using Intel (discontinued) wireless (RF) USB keyboard and mouse. During install of 7.3 everything worked afterwards, no mouse. I 've reconfigured with all the obvious selections using kudzu, but still no mouse. I 'm currently using a PS/2 mouse to navigate KDE.

This is a Home Theater PC i 've built, thus the use of remote keyboard and mouse. I 've become interested in possibility of using Linux as the base for an HTPC.

BTW, there is the AVS Forum which includes discussion areas for HTPC and Linux. Would have supplied the link but I wasn 't sure if that was allowed.

Thanks for any help you may provide.
