Saving documents in Open Office?

Saving documents in Open Office?

>Sorry

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I 'm having a problem with a new
installation Open Office (more recent version) in Valhalla. It 's the same
problem on two different machines (one of them an almost-new installation,
just a couple weeks ago).

I can 't save a document.

When I first try to save, I get a message that "/opt/OpenOffice.org1.0/work
doesn 't exist. "

Well, of course it doesn 't exist. I never created it, and I never
expressed an interest in saving to that directory in the first place, but
it seems to want to put it there as a default.

When I navigate up to root, and then down through /home/myuserdir/, name
the file, and save it, I get a message that says:

"Error saving the document Untitled1:
Wrong paremeter.
The operation was started under an invalid parameter. "

When I click OK, the program crashes.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
