  | | | Firewalling Issue | Firewalling Issue 2002-08-30 - By Thom Paine
Back I host the internet access for a network at the local Ford dealer. Ford has a machine on the LAN that they need internet access to. I was happy to open up the ports in the firewall for forwarding for their terminal services and stuff. Now they say they can 't get out to an FTP site. The machine always gives a port 500 error or something like that. Is there something on the server I need to do to enable the ftp client to work properly? It would seem to me it 's an active / passive issue and the linux server isn 't allowing the packets to cross.
Thanks. -- -=/ >Thom Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla) running Linux Kernel 2.4.18-10 Uptime: 3:21pm up 21:33, 2 users, load average: 0.19, 0.11, 0.10 Registered Linux User #214499
