  | | | Moving "/ " partition | Moving "/ " partition 2002-08-30 - By Marco Calistri
Back Hello I checked again my filesystem and I discovered that all my badblocks are contained inside "/ ".
My primary hdd (/dev/hda) has 3 partitions + the swap:
"/ " "/home " "/usr "
So I thought the following:
Wonder copy "/ " into another partition on same disk,i.e.:/home/damaged,then,using fdisk,reformat old "/ " with the "c " option,then re-copy /home/damaged into "/ ".
I 'd like to know if this could solve the problems I notice about hda:
Aug 30 13:12:56 linux kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=106932, sector=106926 Aug 30 13:12:56 linux kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:00 (hda), sector 106926
and also I 'd like to know which steps have I to follow to do this job:
init 1,umount,remount...(?)
Is always mandatory to umount a filesystem before running e2fsck also if we are runlevel 1 ??
Many thanks.
