Check me out. I, the ranting newbie, the linux yearling with the flowing pen and bad descriptive habits, have X running again. I checked the server output to find : (EE) i810: Failed to laod module "ddc " (module does not exist, 0) So I looked at XF86Config in Pico and found nothing referring to "ddc " and whas lost. I got a little help from #xfree86 and determined where libddc.a was supposed to be...but had disappeared. I eventually solvd the problem with the RH cds, reloaded X entirely. But, see, I am not completely helpless.
Anyway, can;t figure out why it was working then the module just disappeared. Hope my hdd is not going south...Doesn;t seem to be a shrike problem, anyways, so I 'll find something else to ramble on about soon enough.
