  | | | make rpm fails | make rpm fails 2003-05-02 - By Bret Comstock Waldow
Back I ran "make rpm ".
After much time, the build fails with this: ... make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.4.209custom ' + cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /var/tmp/kernel-2.4.209custom-root/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-9custom + cp System.map /var/tmp/kernel-2.4.209custom-root/boot/System.map-2.4.20-9custom + cp .config /var/tmp/kernel-2.4.209custom-root/boot/config-2.4.20-9custom + /usr/lib/rpm/brp-compress Processing files: kernel-2.4.209custom-2 Provides: kernel-2.4.20-9custom kernel-drm Requires(rpmlib): rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 Processing files: kernel-debuginfo-2.4.209custom-2 error: Could not open %files file /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.4.209custom/debugfiles.list: No such file or directory RPM build errors: Could not open %files file /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.4.209custom/debugfiles.list: No such file or directory make: *** [rpm] Error 1 [root@(protected) linux-2.4]# ls /usr/src
My understanding was making the custom kernel as an rpm allows the Red Hat upgrade mechanism to continue working, and I thought I 'd try that.
Can anyone tell me what to do to make "make rpm " work, or perhaps what I should be doing instead?
Cheers, Bret
