ptp is picture transfer protocol,
it is a mode to transfer pictures through your usb cable
on a windows xp or Mac OS X, that does not require any
drivers to be installed on the computer
basically
you can set your camera to use ptp mode, and transfer pictures
on any WinXP machine, without having to install any drivers/software.
i figured if this mode worked in linux,
i would leave it in ptp
then if i go to my brothers or mothers,
or use my wifes computer,
and want to transfer pictures to their computers,
it would be ready to go.
my s45 has a <normal > and a <ptp > mode

oh sorry,
i should have said "exif " instead of "extinf "
(extinf is for mp3)
basically it is data about how the picture was taken that is stored
inside the picture itself

when i hover over a picture in kde/konqueror
it shows me info like the
aperature and exposure time,
although i dont know what i would do with them :)
it really wasnt hard just to update the libraries and use the existing
installations. i didnt hear anyone reply that it was a flawed method.
