Back Hello All,
I want to increase the Swap Space on a already installed linux box.
#/sbin/fdisk -l
Disk /dev/hdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 15017 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdc1 1 15017 120624021 83 Linux
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2434 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux /dev/hda2 14 78 522112+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda3 79 2434 18924570 83 Linux
#df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hda3 18G 11G 6.2G 64% / /dev/hda1 99M 8.8M 84M 10% /boot /dev/hdc1 113G 16G 91G 15% /drive2 none 441M 0 441M 0% /dev/shm
I heared that i cannot increase the Swap space if that is created as a DIR. Is this correct? But i suppose that I have a partion of swap /dev/hda2 right? can anybody put me a correct syntax of using 'swapon' and 'mkswap' please put me on the correct path for the same>
