Back I'm confused, and can't get NTP configured properly on my RH7.3 box. I've got three stratum-2 servers in my /etc/ntp.conf, but there's also a GUI-based 'time and date properties' box that has an on-off checkbox for NTP, as well as a server name. Do I need to turn the GUI one off?
Anyway, the daemon is running, but when I do:
> sudo /usr/sbin/ntpq
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter ======================================================================= ======= *LOCAL(0) LOCAL(0) 10 l 22 64 377 0.000 0.000 0.015 filbert.cc.colu 0.0.0.0 16 u - 128 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00 ntp2.jrc.us 0.0.0.0 16 u - 128 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00 ourconcord.net 0.0.0.0 16 u - 128 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00
If I run ntpdate as root, I get:
28 Aug 08:17:12 ntpdate[28469]: no servers can be used, exiting
Can anybody help diagnose? I was going to have my Linux box be the on-site time source, have other things sync to it.
